These are some random pictures that I got off of the blog that Sister Rahlf kept for the missionaries.

This concludes the written record that Jaden sent to us from his mission.  I am so proud of him and how hard he worked on his mission.  He is a man, mature and grown up and I can really tell the difference of what two years of good hard work serving the Lord can do.  I love you Jaden!

Yes we had a baptism this saturday! She got baptized and it was a great experience. She gave a wonderful testimony at the end of the service.

Soooo im sick again. I have a bacterial infection thing in my throat. I have white patches and its a little swollen. I might have to go to the mission home for a couple of days. I do have medicine i am taking that will hopefully help. I do feel pretty horrible. It sucks this happens my last week!

On tuesday we had a good zone meeting. That was the last time I have to teach district or zone meeting! I am going to miss the elders and sister in my zone right now. We are all really close.

The activity last monday was fun. A bucket of balls was only like 40 pesos which is like a dollar haha and there was a guy to tee up every ball. except the tee was some dirt hahaha

Oh and President Rahlf and Sister Rahlf attended our baptism that was on saturday so that was nice:)

Our branch president has also planned a FHE/farewell for me on monday:)

Love you guys

Sunday, August 9, 2015

My week was good:) and I am starting to feel a little trunky.. my companion from the MTC went home on friday. He got realeased early to make it back in time for school.

On tuesday I had to teach district meeting. My companion and I switch off teaching. It is because we are the zone leaders and the district leaders for one of the districts. It went pretty good. I just recycled one of the lessons that I had already planned.

On Wednesday and thursday we focused on getting our investigator ready for the baptismal interview. Her interview was saturday at the church and she passed so her baptism will be this saturday. Her husband and her youngest have later dates. She didnt want to wait for them haha.

On friday we had our weekly planning and we went to the computer shop to do it. My companion did it on like word or something. It was pretty nice not having to write it all out but just print it.

On sunday during church the branch president gets up and at the pulpet asks me how many days I have left hahaha. Then while working we were just going around talking to people because we went to an area we have been to yet and it was funny to see the people running away when they saw us.

Love you guys!  Oh and then today we had a zone activity.. we went to a driving range haha... this is me and my companion.

Things are going good.

This week went by really fast. On tuesday after district meeting we had a zone lunch and one of the other elders paid for everyone so that was nice. I didnt have to teach this past tuesday. It was a nice break from teaching district meeting. I do have to teach tomorrow tho.

On Thursday we had splits with the ap's. It was good. I was with elder waldron who is my batch. We had a good time and taught some good lessons. And being able to use the truck was nice haha. At the dinner appointment we had, the family still remembered who I was and were happy to see me. It wasnt in my area but they were part of the branch I served in when I was assigned in cauayan.

On friday morning after the splits President Rahlf gave us a ride home. He said he had to go check on some sisters.

On saturday we had to go to Gamu for a baptism interview. After that we were able to go to Mcdo for lunch. The cordova family is doing well. They have their baptism interview this saturday and we also have several baptisms to attend.

This week is elder larson's last week! He goes home on Friday. He was my companion in the MTC and it was nice being in the zone right next to his. We were able to play ball and hangout today.

I also got my flight plans!! I got them on thursday when we were on splits in cauayan. See you guys in 23 days!!

Mahal ko kayo!

Monday, July 27, 2015

Things are going pretty good. We had a super busy week.

On wednesday my companion had new leaders training in cauayan so we were there pretty much all day. I was on splits with some of the elders that are assigned there. I was with elder Enuake. He is a poly and i wish that i had a poly companion haha.

On thursday we had Elders conference. It was pretty good. We talked about being worthy priesthood holders, planning and setting goals. That was another all day things in cauayan.

On saturday we were eating at mcdonalds and I saw some people from my last area. That was a nice surprise:)

Our investigators that have a date for aug 15 are doing great! They are probably some of the strongest members in the branch.

I love you guys!

And i am going to banawe soon! use to be one of the 8 wonders of the world. Lots of souvenir stuff so any money would be appreciated:)

Monday, July 20, 2015

Things are going good! I have a new companion now. Elder Treyes. He was just called as a zone leader. He is from Bocolod city. He is 22 and is pretty cool.

The area is pretty tough. We have a TON of less active members. Our branch president isnt very strong. His first counselor is less active and the second counselor was just baptized in february. We are doing the best we can. We do have baptisms coming up for aug 15.

This week my compaion has new leaders training in cauayan. I have to go with him so i think I will be able to work in my older area there in cauayan. Then we have an elders conference on Thursday. That should be cool.

Thats pretty much it haha Love you guys!

Monday, July 6, 2015

Things are going good! This week went by really fast.

We had MLC on wednesday which ment we were in cauayan all day. It was good. Sis. Rahlf talked about "If there is a will there is a way." It was good and then presidnet talked about "to do and to be". so these are the things that we have to teach tomorrow to our zone.

Then on thursay we went to cauayan again so my companion could take his CLS test. Its an english test so that he can get a certificate and help him get a better job. So we were there pretty much all day again.

Our time for church got changed to 1 pm. Not really excited for that. And not very many came to church. There were about 20 of us. It might have been because there was a typhoon just north of us. It is hard working in such a small branch.

1. What has been your biggest challenge this week? Church. We pretty much have to run everything.

2. What has been your biggest concern? Not sure.

We have a lot of work to do with our branch though. We have no meetings after church. We have no classes after sacrement. We have a low attendence. So basically me and my companion are in charge of fixing the branch. We have quite the task ahead of us haha

Im pretty use to the leadership. Im use to teaching lessons now in front of people and planning them, meetings, exchanges, and so on.

I got to go back to my first area on sunday! We had a baptismal interview there. We got there before the sacrement was over and I got to see everyone! A lot of people remembered me haha and wanted to take pictures. Then the sister I interviewed was someone that I had taught when I was there so that was pretty cool! The picture is of the sister and me.

Thing ae going good:) I am enjoying the area and my companion. Well It kinda sucks in this zone because I am the zone leader and the district leader for one district because the dont have a zone leader. So i still have to do all the same things and now I have the zone leader responsibilities as well.

This past week we had MLC which is mission leadership counsel. It was ok. I enjoyed the part where President and Sister Rahlf taught. Then we also had zone conference. That was an all day thing where there were speakers and activities. It was fun because I got to see the people from my last zone.

On thursday sis rahlf has surgery back in the states. She has this thing on her thyroid and it has to be removed so president and sis rahlf are in salt lake right now.

Elder St. Gelais

Monday, April 6, 2015

Im doing good! I am back now. President and Sister Rahlf took me back saturday afternoon.

So the storm was just like any other time it has rained here. I was hoping it would be a big typhoon haha but it got really weak once it got to land.

It was really boring being sick. It was better when I was at the mission home. They had lots of books from the apostles so I started reading one by Elder Bednar. On Friday night I also went on date night with President and Sister Rahlf haha. We went to dinner and watched this parade type thing for Good Friday. Umm I also baked a cake with sister Rahlf when I was there. She is one of the nicest ladies I know. Other then that it was really boring. i just slept most of the time because I was soooo tired.

Here they didnt do anything for Easter sunday. It all happens on Good Friday. The catholic church by us was blasting some weird music but thats all I noticed.

So far everything is going good:) The baptism for the family is on schedule. They have their interviews this Saturday.

Im excited for conference this weekend. We have to go to Ilagan to watch it because that is where the stake center is. It will be a good time.

Love you guys.

-Elder St. Gelais

Thursday, April 2, 2015

Dear Family of Elder St. Gelais,
I just wanted to give you an update on Elder St. Gelais. I know when he emailed on Monday he let you know he'd been sick. He does have a nasty virus that has given him a bad sore throat, body aches and fever. He started getting sick on Friday and we started him on antibiotic right away, along with paracetamol (Tylenol) and ibuprofen (Advil) for the fever and aches. Those went away by Sunday, but the sore throat wasn't getting any better and he was really tired. I brought him in to the mission home on Tuesday. He's been able to sleep and rest and get some home cooking. He's feeling better every day and his throat is much better. Elder Arner, our area doctor said there have been a number of missionaries around the Philippines with this and that it just takes time and rest. We had his blood work done and while it showed some evidences of infection, nothing was alarming.

I just wanted to let you know he is doing better and recovering steadily. He's got such a great attitude and he's been a model patient! He's a fine missionary--we are thankful for him and you can be proud of what he's doing.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Love,
Sister Rahlf

He is actually much better today. The sore throat is almost completely gone. He is still tired, but he has more and more energy. This is what our area doctor said to expect. I will probably
keep him here through the weekend. I will keep you updated--

Love,
Sister Rahlf

(04/04/2015)

A happy Elder St. Gelais reunited with his companion and housemates and anxious to get back to work!  He feels great, although it may take another few days to get back all of his energy. He has promised he will rest when he gets tired and build up to a full missionary day slowly. He showed us in many ways during his recuperation that he is a dedicated missionary and we are grateful for him.

Happy Easter and General Conference--

Love,
Sister Rahlf

Sunday, March 29, 2015

Sorry i didnt email last week. I wasnt feeling too good. But its worse this week. I got strep throat on friday.

So things werent really to great this week starting friday. I got strep throat. It sucks haha.

On wednesday we went to the family with the baptismal date for april 18...best day they could possibly be baptized if you ask me. We road bikes for a good hr up and down hills to get to their house. Worth it though. They are totally ready. Then on thursday we were at one of our far areas again and some of the sisters in my district called and the new sister that has been out for about 2 weeks needed a blessing. So we headed over there and my companion lost the phone on the way over haha. We get there and are waiting outside there house with now way to contact them. They told us they would be there. We talk to the land lady who is a member and she gets a hold of them and the make there way over. The sister is teary eyed so is was a great blessing to be able to give her a blessing. We did manage to fine the phone btw. Someone had picked it up. Thats pretty much it except for being sick.

I do have medicine and it must be some pretty crappy medicine haha i still feel pretty terrible after 4 days. It is getting slightly better though.

I did get the packages mom. Thank you and please say thank you to sister staggie.

Hopefully i feel better tomorrow because I have to teach district meeting and them have special training with President Rahlf.

Love you guys.

Monday, March 16, 2015

So we had transfers this week. We didnt have any changes in the companionship. We do however have a new elder living with us. Elder Hardy from Utah. So far he seems like a cool guy. This is only his second area so he is still pretty new.

Not much really happened this week. We did use bikes this week thought and it broke on us when we were far from anywhere. So that was a pain in trying to get fix.

1. What has been your biggest challenge this week? Umm not to sure haha

2. What has been your biggest concern? Time...our area is HUGE!

3. What has been your biggest success? Well we have a new family that we are teaching and the all accepted a baptism date for april 18...the best day ever of course:)

7. Do you have a goal set for this coming week? Tell me about it. Well lets just make this week better than last week. Sounds like a pretty good goal to me haha.

8. Which scripture has had the biggest impact on you this week? Mathew 4:19- This is one of the scriptures that I am going to be using in my district meeting. It is an invitation from Jesus with the promised blessings if they willl do it.

Love you guys

Sunday, March 8, 2015

Manila was awesome!! It was a blast haha. I will start from the beginning.

So I had to travel to the airport alone. It felt really weird being without a companion haha but I could totally survive on my own here.
I got to the airport at 11 and meet up with the others who were going. The flight was delayed so we didnt get to manila until 4.

We got there and the guy picked us up and said we were going to to the finger printing the next day so he took us straight to the hotel. After we checked in we were free to do what we wanted. So me and two others elders went to SM megamall. We got a TAXI haha and went there. It literally felt like I was in LA or something. It was so different, huge buildings and i dont haha just a real city.

The mall was huge! Six stories big. We maybe saw 1/10 of the mall. But we got there and I bought jamba juice right away haha and the we were looking for somewhere to eat..we ate at chili's:) Then we got dairyqueen for dessert. I was so full! I ate sooo much food. Then we walked around the mall and I found a shop and got some stuff. It was expensive though. I got some shirts and other things for you guys.

So at the end of the we got a taxi back home. We told the guy the hotel and he starts driving. After 4 min he asks us again and then says he doesnt know where that is....and kicks us out of the taxi...so we try to get another taxi but there arent any available. So were lost in Maila haha. So we decide to just find our way back to the hotel. (the taxi ride from the hotel to the mall was about 30 min haha) So we start walking and the other elders have no idea were we are. But being me has perks..I remembered the way the taxi came and remember seeing certain buildings so I found out way back. We were walking around the city for probably 2 hrs. It was sooo fun haha. I was impressed with myself for finding the way back after being in manila for only 6 hrs.

It was a great trip though haha I ate so much food..chili's, jamba juice, DQ, burger king, wendys, yellow cab pizza, and crispy creams:)

1. What has been your biggest challenge this week? After coming back from manila...wanting to work again. It was like coming back from vacation but it turned out fine.

2. What has been your biggest concern? Making it back home in time for our baptism. I got there right as they were starting:)

3. What has been your biggest success? Baptism in the river:) It was a great experience and the sister has a strong testimony.

4. Who has been your favorite person this week? Why? Elder Lee. He is sooo freakin funny and made the Manila trip so fun. He doesnt try to be funny but is is kinda of retarded and its just so funny.

5. What has been your most significant tender mercy? With the baptism there was a little 8 yr old girl. She is awesome and has a great testimony. I was also able to confirm her and give the Holy Ghost.

6. What are you looking forward to this coming week? Transfer day! We are getting a new Elder in the house but I am sad that Elder Latu is leaving. He is really awesome!

7. Do you have a goal set for this coming week? Tell me about it. Work hard! Since I was really busy this last week I want to work extra extra hard.

8. Which scripture has had the biggest impact on you this week? Alma 37:6 by small and simple things are great ting brought to pass. God calls the week to be his servants. He reshapes them into the instruments he needs.

Love you guys!

2. What has been your biggest concern? I havent really been too concerned with anything this week. I guess the biggest would just be planning the district meeting lesson.

3. What has been your biggest success? This week we had a baptismal interview for one of our investigators. She passed and her baptism will be on Saturday!

The second is of some little girls that ran up to me and were asking to take a pic haha.

And the last is of me, kevin, jong, and fe-ann in the rice field on the way to some investigators.

1. What has been your biggest challenge this week? This week is was hard to wake up haha well its always hard but this week especially. I am just so tired! All the time haha.

2. What has been your biggest concern? This week was a bit difficult teaching. My companion really likes to talk a lot in the lessons. We are still getting use to each other.

3. What has been your biggest success? Well we did have a great lesson. We were teaching an investigator. She has been an investigator for over 10 yrs now.  We were taking about baptism and she was talking about how she was afraid if she because a member she would do something wrong and maybe ruin the name of the church. We were able to bear powerful testimony and we all cried. The past sunday she came to church:)

4. Who has been your favorite person this week? Why? Umm sis. fe-ann alberto. She just finished her mission in Manila. She worked with us on sunday and has a ton of referrals! She is pretty awesome.

5. What has been your most significant tender mercy? Well last night we got a call from some members. Someone fell off a building about 3 stories high. We were asked to give him a blessing. When we got there he was screaming in pain. My companion was able to anoint him and when we started giving him the blessing he like fell asleep or something. The screaming stopped. This morning the were able to get him to the hospital.

6. What are you looking forward to this coming week? Well tomorrow we have Zone conference. That will defiantly be a good time.

7. Do you have a goal set for this coming week? Tell me about it. Have my district meeting lesson planned before sunday.

8. Which scripture has had the biggest impact on you this week? Alma 26:12 I read this chapter during personal study. Ammon is one amazing guy. I love how he goes on to say 'can we glory too much in our God?'

Love you guys

Sunday, February 8, 2015

The area is doing alright. We have several investigators we are teaching. I enjoy the work here though. The ward is great.

So as a DL I have to teach district meeting every tuesday which is about 1hr and 30min. Planning the lessons can be a bit frustrating though. Then I also get to do baptismal interviews for those in my district. This last sunday I had 3 interviews. Its great being able to talk to those that are getting ready for baptism. I also have to cloect all of the reports for those in my district.

So its a little town in the middle of a ton of rice fields. We do have some little stores though. No mcdonalds anymore though haha. I still have someone who does my laundry for me. And the apartment is alright. We have giant spiders though like the size of my hand.

1. What has been your biggest challenge this week? Um teaching district meeting was pretty stressful but it ended up being great.
2. What has been your biggest concern? Being able to work both areas. We have delfin albano and tumauini ward 2. So just being able to find time to work in both and deciding who we should visit.

3. What has been your biggest success? We are working well with the bishopric and being able to find all the Recent converts for last year to teach and prepare for the temple and working on a list of less active families to focus on.

4. Who has been your favorite person this week? Why? Ako haha syemps! That means "Me of course". Because I can do hard things.

5. What has been your most significant tender mercy? On the way home from the baptismal interviews we took a bus (45 min ride). An older lady got on and had no where to sit so I gave her my sit and stood in the isle. She thanked me when she got off the bus.

6. What are you looking forward to this coming week? Zone meeting on tuesday because I dont have to teach haha

7. Do you have a goal set for this coming week? Tell me about it. Well I need to start making Br pages. Its like a little scrapbook page. Lots of elders and sisters have asked for one and I need to start making them.

8. Which scripture has had the biggest impact on you this week? Alma 48:17 Shared this with a family at our dinner appointment. I remembered Bishop Nevitts lesson at a ym stake activity where he talked about returning to the basics.

I will leave it up to you guys about the vacation. If you want to come here to the promised land thats great if not its up to you.

Love you guys!

Yes, i am in a new area! I am now in Tumauini. It is a a small town in the middle of no where haha. Its cool though. Our area is huge. There were 4 elders in this area but no its just two. There are 4 in our apartment now. 2 elders in the other ward. My companion is Elder Castillio from Samar, Philippines. He is 18 and i am his follow up trainer. He is a great guy haha but acts like he is 18. One of the elders i live with is Elder Latu. He is my batch and we are pretty close. The members are great. I am already close with some of them. I am also the district leader now. Transfers were on wednesday and I became the DL and had to make a lesson for district meeting on thursday.

So far everything is going great and I like where i am. It is fun messing with members by pretending im new and dont speak tagalog so they try and speak english.

The one picture with the food is called a Budol fight. Best way to food!

Everything is going great. We had a super busy week.

We were able to find a new family to start teaching and they really are receiving it well. It is a mother with 5 kids. We were just out talking to some less active members and she comes up to us and said she needs help. After we helped her move some things we taught them a lesson and we have been back twice and they came to church.

This saturday we had a finding activity. We went around to all the houses and business right around the church and invited them all to come and told them who the Mormons were. We had a ton of success. I was able to work with Elder Camain who is one of the Ap's.

Then on sunday a member called us and asked me to bless their motorcycle... We went over after church and said a prayer for them and then had a great lunch. It was funny they wanted us to bless it though.

We also have have the 2 baptisms coming up this saturday.

My week was good.

This week we had splits with the DL, I was with his companion. It was pretty fun. Elder Baquiran is pretty cool. We got two new families to teach.

Our area is doing great. We have 2 baptisms coming up on Jan. 24. Sister Lenny Rikafort, she is a part member family. Her husband is a member and Richard Fugaban who just turned 8. His family are members. I have really loved this area and will be sad to leave. The members here are really great and I have seen a lot of progression. I will probably be transferred this next transfer which is on the 28th.

One thing that is really awesome is that 2 of our recent converts work with us about every other day. They were baptized on Dec 13!

Umm basketball was good today haha as usual I dominated.

We started teaching an english class every saturday. Its alright. I am never going to be an english teacher though...thats for sure!

Love you guys

My week was pretty good. People were really busy with the new year. Here in the Pilipinas the new year is bigger then christmas.

For new years we cooked a bunch of food and had junk food. We watched "Son of God" and played some games. It was a good time. The movie kinda sucked though. Around midnight there were a ton of fireworks so we went and sat in the back of the Ap's truck. They went for about an hr. Then our land lord had us over for some more food. We didnt get to bed till about 2:30 haha

We have lots of new investigators but there arent too many that are progressing. We have 3 right now that have baptism dates. Two on Jan 24 and one on Feb 7.

I really enjoy this area and the members are awesome here. I will probably be transfered on jan 28 though becasue i finish traning my anak.

On Friday I was able to work with Elder Laxamana again. His companion had a meeting here in cauayan so he got to work with us. It was awesome. I really miss that guy.

Love you guys
